On a folded-paper island at night, a girl looks through a telescope at the moon while her mentor points up at it, beside an easel with a simple chart and a table with an open notebook and a globe.

Our first year in Ottawa

What we set out to do, what we measured, what worked, what didn’t, and what we’ll change.

What we set out to do

The report will start with the promises we made before we opened: that every child would be known, that families would always know where their child stands, and that learners would be ready for school and for what comes after. We’ll restate them plainly so the rest of the report can be read against them.

What we measured

We’ll report on what we said we would track from day one: where children started on their diagnostic assessment, how skills grew from first attempt to mastery check, how much was kept when we came back to it later, and what families told us about feeling known and informed.

We’ll report against the promises we made.

The short version

What worked, and what didn’t

A first year always includes things that don’t go to plan. We’ll describe them as plainly as the things that do, and explain what we changed along the way. A single centre in its first year is a small group, so we’ll be careful about what we conclude.

What we’ll change

The report will end with the specific changes we’ll make for the second year, so families can hold us to them.

What you’ll take away

  1. 01We’ll report against the promises we made.
  2. 02What didn’t work gets the same space as what did.
  3. 03Specific changes, so you can hold us to them.

Every child deserves to be known. Let’s start with yours.

Come and meet us. Founding families get a free diagnostic assessment that shows exactly where your child is, before you decide anything.
