Coming soon to OttawaFrançais

The Hikmah centre gets ready to open: one mentor on a stepladder hangs a lantern beside the door, another carries a box of books inside, and a third brings a small chair to a table outside.

Careers

Teach the way you always meant to. Help us open the first centre.

Hikmah mentors spend their time with children, not paperwork. No roles are open yet: register your interest and we’ll write when hiring begins for our first centre in Ottawa.

Why mentor here

The job you trained for.

You guide a steady group of learners and come to know each one: how they think, where they shine, where they got stuck. You ask more than you lecture.

  • Know every child

The same learners over time, so you notice small changes and act early.

  • Fix the root

Trace a missed question to the skill behind it, reteach it and check again.

  • Teach what AI can’t

Lead projects, discussion and coaching that build judgement and character.

  • Your call, always

The platform drafts plans and marks routine work. You decide what each child needs next.

A mentor sits beside a girl at a table, pointing to a line in her notebook, with the centre’s arched door and two colleagues greeting each other behind them.

A mentor’s afternoon

One afternoon, six moments.

Choose a moment to see the work, and what the platform takes off your plate.

What mentors get

Built so good teachers can do their best work.

Illustrative screen. The Hikmah platform is in development.
  • Time to teach

Planning, routine marking and records are handled; your hours go to children.

  • A group you know

The same learners over time, so you see growth others miss.

  • Trusted as a professional

Leaders clear the way, and every platform suggestion is yours to accept or ignore.

  • Keep learning

Training before your first learner, then regular coaching; we intend to support further study.

  • Work to live

Good teaching needs rested people: sustainable workloads and real time off.

  • Fair, with room to grow

Pay stated clearly in each posting. Founding mentors shape programs and train those who follow.

How hiring works

Six steps, explained up front.

Every mentor is chosen against the same standard. Each posting will confirm the details, and we’ll tell you where you stand at every step.

  1. Apply

Register interest here. We screen every application against our mentor standard.

  2. A first conversation

Your experience, what draws you to Hikmah, and your questions for us.

  3. Teach us something

A demonstration built around a real learner’s mistake: find the root, then help.

  4. A subject check

A short check of your own command of the subject you would teach.

  5. References and a police check

References, and a police vulnerable sector check before you start.

  6. Training and shadowing

The method, the platform, safeguarding and privacy, then time beside an experienced mentor, before your first learner.
